While crews battled the fire, other units in the complex were filled with smoke
Firefighters in Huntsville responded Saturday evening to a kitchen fire at a rental townhome on Horizon Lane.
Crews discovered flames in one unit while neighboring units were filled with smoke and elevated carbon monoxide.
Working quickly in zero‑visibility conditions, firefighters contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at more than $80,000, and an air fryer was determined to be the cause.
Fire officials praised the building’s smoke alarms and fire safety plan for helping keep residents safe.
