Aitchison says the budget missed the mark
Reaction continues to roll in to the Liberal government’s new federal budget — and Parry Sound Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison says it completely missed the mark.
Aitchison says the GST cut for first-time homebuyers — and only on homes under a million dollars — barely touches the market in Ontario… affecting less than 5 per cent of buyers. He argues housing is a system — and when you only help a tiny slice, you keep the whole system jammed.
Aitchison says Conservatives have long pushed to cut GST on all new homes under $1.3 million — a move supported by builders and industry leaders — and says the Liberals still aren’t listening.
