The father & son each brought home medals
Jeff and Lucas Allen are back home from the Canadian Judo Championships in Calgary after a strong showing on the national stage.
Jeff kicked things off in the ground fighting division, winning three straight matches to reach the gold medal fight, where he came up just short — taking home a silver.
The next day, Jeff returned to win his fifth national title — and third in a row — in the masters heavyweight division, defeating Quebec’s Ryan Proulx with a massive throw in the final.
Lucas also impressed, earning bronze in the under-21 heavyweight category after a series of tough matches. He also competed in the senior heavyweight division, where he finished just off the podium.
Next up for the duo — the World Jujitsu Championships in Las Vegas this August, and the World Judo Championships in Paris in November.
