The course covers campaign basics, plus how to handle criticism and more
The next municipal election is less than a year away, and residents thinking about a run for council now have a chance to learn what it takes. The Association of Municipalities of Ontario is offering a free online training series called Stronger Leaders, Stronger Communities, designed for both first-time and returning candidates.
The workshops cover everything from campaign basics and managing criticism to mental well-being and turning personal values into action. Four evening sessions are scheduled between March and May, ahead of the nomination period opening on May first.
Registration is free but limited, and the Township of Lake of Bays is encouraging anyone considering public office to sign up early.
