The Deputy Mayor says she will continue a collaborative approach to municipal leadership
In Bracebridge, a familiar name is stepping back into the municipal spotlight as the local election season begins to take shape.
Brenda Rhodes has announced she will seek re-election to Town and District Council in the 2026 municipal vote. Rhodes, who has served as Deputy Mayor since 2022, says her focus remains on housing, economic growth, and restoring civility in local politics.
During her first term, she highlighted progress on affordable and attainable housing projects in the region, including new developments on former arena lands and recently completed units on Pine Street. She also pointed to efforts promoting respectful political engagement and supporting local businesses.
Rhodes says there is still more work ahead and plans to continue what she calls a “collaborative and practical” approach to municipal leadership.
Nominations for the election opened earlier this month, with voting set for mid-October.
