Residents should stay with their fires and make sure its extinguished before leaving the area
Lake of Bays is ending its seasonal daytime burning restrictions on November 1, but fire officials are warning residents that wildfire risk remains through the fall.
Lake of Bays Fire Rescue says dry leaves and vegetation can still catch fire quickly, even in cooler weather. Residents are being asked to check the current Fire Danger Rating before burning, as restrictions or a fire ban could be introduced if conditions change.
Anyone having an outdoor fire should keep it small, well away from buildings and trees, have water nearby and never leave it unattended. Fires must be completely out before leaving the area.
