Muskoka Business Week runs Nov 24-28
The District of Muskoka declared a new regional Muskoka Business Week, in the November 17, 2025, Council meeting.
Staff advised that the importance of this initiative is to recognize the role of businesses, including in the economy, and to strengthen the business environment and Muskoka as a whole.
According to their report, “Muskoka Business Week is to celebrate the contributions of local businesses, entrepreneurs, economic development partners, and community organizations across the District of Muskoka.”
They added, “In recognition of the importance of local businesses to the economy and social fabric of our communities, November 24 to 28, 2025 is hereby declared as ‘Muskoka Business Week.’”
They indicated one of the goals is an effort to support economic development initiatives and community activities towards greater business growth.
Municipalities across Canada have held similar initiatives in a joint effort with local Chamber of Commerce or economic development facilities in the past, which have included events and campaigns.
The Muskoka Chamber of Commerce tried to generate business participation in October in the past, however, it resulted in low engagement, reported staff.
With the belief of timing as an issue the Muskoka Small Business Centre came up with a new approach in partnership with the Chamber last November but “it was not a comprehensive initiative.”
Muskoka Lakes Chamber has developed a concept with other local area Chambers, organizations, economic development partners, municipalities and the District, “which has been strategically scheduled during the off season to allow for more fulsome collaboration and engagement of the business community,” report staff.
They explained that eleven events, activities, and workshops will be held across the towns and townships in the region during this allocated week to support networking and workforce opportunities.
Staff advised that moving forward “it will be ongoing and the last week of November each year.”
You can visit your local Chamber of Commerce to learn more about the activities in your area.
