It means higher fines for offenders
The District of Muskoka announced today that in 2026, all School Zones on District roads in Muskoka will also be designated as Community Safety Zones.
The change means higher fines for speeding and tougher enforcement by OPP officers.
The District has merged 17 separate by-laws into just two, streamlining the rules and boosting safety around schools. Any new School Zone will now automatically carry the stricter designation.
Officials say the move aims to better protect students and pedestrians, with updated signs already going up across Muskoka.
