Residents and visitors are urged to avoid any kind of outdoor fire
The Muskoka Fire Danger Rating is currently High, meaning residents and visitors are urged to avoid campfires and use extreme caution with any outdoor fire.
While daytime burning restrictions were lifted as of October 31, 2024, small fires are still permitted in most areas, but local burning regulations may vary. Residents are reminded to consult their local by-law department before lighting any fire.
The Muskoka Fire Chiefs thank the public for their continued cooperation in preventing wildfires.
The fire rating is assessed daily using the Fire Weather Index, considering humidity, rainfall, temperature, and wind conditions in consultation with municipal fire chiefs and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The Muskoka Fire Season runs April 1 to October 31 each year and the rating is verified daily and updated whenever the rating changes.
