Muskoka Lakes Township is reminding residents that Fire season in runs from April 1 to October 31st in Muskoka, with strict burning regulations in place.
Daytime burning is prohibited without a valid permit, and all fires must be no larger than one meter in diameter and height. A minimum of 19 liters of water must be on hand for extinguishment.
Fire officials warn that dry conditions increase wildfire risks, with human activity responsible for half of all wildfires.
Burn permits are available online, and contractors requiring larger fires must contact their local Fire Department.
