The District is delaying changes to its policies on flooding until 2027
The District of Muskoka is delaying changes to its floodplain policies and mapping until after next spring’s freshet.
Council has deferred adopting Official Plan Amendment 61 after staff warned the current version doesn't meet provincial planning requirements.
The delay follows public concerns about how updated floodplain maps could affect waterfront properties and future development.
Staff will return after the spring high-water period with recommendations for a revised amendment.
