This weekend is the last free fishing weekend this year
The Ontario government is marking Canada Day by offering free fishing across the province from June 28 to July 6.
Canadian residents can fish without a licence during the week, but must follow conservation rules and catch limits.
Natural Resources Minister Mike Harris says it’s a chance for families to get outdoors and enjoy Ontario’s angling heritage.
It’s the final free fishing period of the year, aimed at encouraging new anglers to cast a line and support local tourism.
