ATV Safety Week runs until June 8
OPP say almost half of last year’s off-road vehicle deaths in Ontario involved drivers who weren’t wearing helmets or were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police say 18 of the 34 fatalities weren’t wearing helmets, and 15 involved impaired driving.
As ATV Safety Awareness Week runs until June 8, the OPP and Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs are urging riders to always wear approved helmets, stay sober, avoid speeding, and ride within their skill level.
They also encourage parents to sign youth up for Ontario’s online ATV training course.
