The Table is asking for the town's support for its plan to revitalize the old FreshCo building
The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation asked Huntsville council for financial support to develop The Table Plaza, a multi-purpose community hub.
At Wednesday’s General Committee meeting, founder Heather Cassie and board president Brian Rasmussen outlined plans for emergency shelter, affordable housing, a community kitchen, café, art gallery, and hydroponic garden.
The Foundation currently operates a men’s hostel with a waitlist of 27people.
Cassie and Rasmussen said the plaza will expand services, create jobs, and provide training and volunteer opportunities. Council members praised the initiative and requested more details on funding needs and staffing, noting the importance of coordinating with the District of Muskoka and other partners.
