Mike and his wife Ella care for orphaned and injured bears in Sprucedale
Local bear expert, Mike McIntosh is being inducted into the Wildlife Rehabbers Hall of Fame 2025 for his decades of work with black bears in Ontario.
He founded Bear With Us Sanctuary in Sprucedale in 1992, caring for orphaned and injured bears while educating the public.
Mike has partnered with the Bear Wise program, hosted an educational program on Hunters Bay Radio, and served nearly 20 years on Ontario Wildlife Rescue’s board.
A longtime opponent of the spring bear hunt, he’s also mentored countless wildlife rehabilitators.
His dedication to protecting bears and raising awareness earns him the honor.
