The Canadian Census began on Monday and participation is mandatory
Canada’s latest national census is now underway, with Statistics Canada asking residents to help build a detailed snapshot of the country’s population and living conditions.
The census officially began May 4, with households receiving invitation letters containing instructions on how to complete the questionnaire online or by mail. Officials say participation is required by law.
Statistics Canada says the data helps governments plan services like schools, hospitals and infrastructure, calling it the “evidence backbone” for decision-making across the country.
