The program offers $50,000-$100,000 for residents and developers to add affordable housing units
The District of Muskoka is making it easier for residents and developers to create affordable housing.
Two new funding streams are now open through the Muskoka Affordable Housing Initiatives Program, or MAHIP. The program offers up to $100,000 per unit for multi-unit rental projects, and up to $50,000 for property owners adding secondary suites like basement or garden apartments.
Arfona Zwiers, the District’s Commissioner of Community and Planning Services, says each new unit helps families find a place to call home. Applications are open until May 1, 2026. More information is available at muskoka.on.ca/mahip.
