Owners of vulnerable properties should take precautions
The Ministry of Natural Resources has issued a Flood Outlook for the Bracebridge-Minden-Parry Sound District, in effect until Friday, March 20. The warning covers the Muskoka River Watershed and Black River, as rising runoff from snowmelt and recent rain is expected to increase water levels in lakes and rivers.
Officials say stream banks are slippery and fast-flowing cold water makes conditions hazardous. Residents are urged to monitor weather updates, stay clear of rivers and streams, and keep a close watch on children and pets.
Low-lying areas prone to flooding could be affected, and property owners in vulnerable locations are advised to take precautions and secure their homes while staying alert to changing conditions.
