Police remind everyone that no ice is safe ice
OPP are warning residents to stay clear of lakes and rivers as early-season ice remains dangerously thin.
Police say frozen surfaces may look solid, but “no ice is safe ice,” and falling through can become life-threatening within minutes.
Snowmobilers are urged to stick to marked trails, avoid unfamiliar areas, and travel with proper gear, including ice picks and a charged phone.
The OPP also reminds riders to stay sober and never go out alone. Anyone who sees someone fall through the ice should call 911 immediately.
