Police are warning Muskoka-area residents about a growing scam involving criminals posing as OPP officers.
Investigators say fraudsters are calling victims, using fake names and badge details, and pressuring them to hand over cash or send money through cryptocurrency.
In several cases, losses ranged from $6,000 - $13,000.
The OPP reminds the public that an officer will never demand payment or threaten arrest over the phone.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is urged to contact police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
