Residents in Huntsville/Lake of Bays are encouraged to leave non perishable food items out for the Salvation Army Food Bank
The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is preparing for the 37th annual Project Porchlight Food Drive, supporting the Salvation Army. On Wednesday, December 3, starting at 6 p.m., fire trucks and partners from the OPP, EMS, Public Works, and Motorcyclists of Muskoka will visit homes to collect non-perishable food donations.
Residents can participate by turning on their porch light and placing donations at their driveway or porch. For those unable to be home, drop-off bins will be available at local fire halls and the Salvation Army in Huntsville throughout the day.
Fire Prevention Officer Steve Markham says even a few donated items can help brighten the holiday season for neighbours in need.
