Muskoka faces a growing housing and homelessness crisis, with a new report calling for nearly 9,500 new homes by 2031.
The greatest need is for affordable one- and two-bedroom rentals, with rents under $490 for the lowest-income residents. Last year, 421 households experienced homelessness, many relying on motels.
District officials say plans are underway to build permanent low-barrier shelters and reduce dependence on temporary accommodations.
