Residents hear from candidates in election open house

Thursday, 10 April 2025 09:21

Over a hundred people filled the Huntsville Legion to hear from candidates

Political followers filled the hall at the Huntsville Legion last night to hear from the 4 candidates in the upcoming federal election.

Residents got to hear a 5 minute statement from each of the candidates before breaking out into groups to ask candidates questions.

During the opening statement phase, incumbent Scott Aitchison highlighted his ability to reach across party lines - despite being in opposition - in order to move important legislation through.

Liberal candidate Geordie Sabbagh spoke of the hardships many residents are facing in the economy and effects on business in the era of U.S. tariffs.

Isabel Pereira with the People’s Party outlined her life as an immigrant and how the PPC platform best reflected her stance.

Finally, NDP candidate Heather Hay talked about how the NDP party is the only party that supports workers.
