The South Muskoka Hospital Foundation has received the largest donation in its history.
Local resident Robert George West has left an $8 million legacy gift to support healthcare in the region.
Foundation officials say West built one of Canada's leading medical supply companies and wanted Muskoka residents to have access to world-class healthcare.
The donation will help advance the Raise Muskoka campaign, supporting plans for a new hospital in Bracebridge and a second new hospital serving the region.
