Authorities are on site cleaning up the resulting oil spill
UPDATE (August 7): The swimming advisory for Port Sydney Beach has been lifted.
The Town of Huntsville has issued a swimming advisory for Port Sydney Beach after a boat sank while moored at the Port Sydney dock, resulting in an oil spill.
Residents and visitors are being asked to avoid swimming in the area until further notice.
Temporary no-swimming signs have been posted along the waterfront, and the swimming area will be assessed daily as cleanup and monitoring continues.
The town says the advisory will remain in place until conditions are safe for swimming.
