The new organization will direct spending to boost tourism
Bracebridge residents and businesses are being asked to weigh in on a plan to boost tourism in town.
The municipality is considering creating a Municipal Services Corporation, tentatively called the Bracebridge Tourism Development Corporation, to manage revenue from the Municipal Accommodation Tax.
The tax, applied to hotels, motels, and short-term rentals, funds tourism promotion and infrastructure without raising local taxes.
The proposed corporation would be town-owned, with a council-appointed board to ensure accountability.
Community feedback is being sought through an online survey open until January 30.
More details and the survey can be found at engagebracebridge.ca
