Dan Armour joins race for Huntsville Mayor

Wednesday, 13 May 2026 08:54

Armour is promising a "back to basics" approach and a financial review of the municpality

A longtime municipal figure in Huntsville is officially stepping into the mayoral race. Dan Armour, who has served 12 years on council including as deputy mayor, says he will file his nomination today at 11 a.m., marking the start of his campaign for the town’s top job.

Armour says his platform is focused on what he calls a “back to basics” approach, emphasizing stronger communication with residents, greater transparency at Town Hall, and a full financial and governance review of the municipality.

He also highlights healthcare recruitment as a priority, pledging to extend the doctor recruitment program, while continuing efforts to expand housing options and reduce barriers for rental development.

Armour adds affordability and property tax pressure will also be central to his campaign, alongside support for local food security initiatives and maintaining Huntsville’s community character as it grows.
