Its a major step in the restoration of the bridge
The District of Muskoka says work is progressing on the Silver Bridge, where crews have completed a major step in the restoration of the 100-year-old structure.
The 430,000 lb steel truss has been carefully lifted about 50 millimetres off its bearings using eight hydraulic jacks and a temporary steel support system.
Crews can now repair damaged steel, complete concrete work and install new bridge bearings.
The next stages will include deck and expansion joint repairs, new guiderails, waterproofing, paving and line painting.
