The shared administration agreement ended earlier this month
The Town of Huntsville has officially launched the Huntsville Fire Department following the end of a nearly 14-year shared administration agreement with the Township of Lake of Bays.
Town officials say the change is administrative and will not affect emergency response or the way residents contact fire services. Mutual aid agreements with neighbouring departments also remain in place.
The Town says the new structure will allow each municipality to better meet the needs of its own community while improving efficiency. Residents can also expect to see new branding rolled out over the coming weeks, with a community launch event planned for the fall.
