The program is designed to speed up approval for secondary dwelling units
The Town of Huntsville has launched a new Secondary Residential Dwelling Units program aimed at increasing housing options across the community.
The program offers six pre-approved design packages for property owners looking to add additional living spaces to their residential lots, either within existing homes or as detached units. The designs range from 250 to 600 square feet for single-storey units, with larger above-garage options also available.
Town officials say the initiative is intended to streamline the approval process, reduce construction delays, and support more affordable and flexible housing options, including rentals and multigenerational living. The program also includes full architectural, structural, and utility design components.
Residents can learn more or review the designs through the Town of Huntsville website or by contacting municipal planning staff.
