Young people are getting hooked on nicotine
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is sounding the alarm on youth vaping, with nearly a third of students in Grades 7 to 12 reporting they’ve vaped in the past year — one of the highest rates in the province.
Health officials say vaping is hooking young people on nicotine at alarming levels, with one in three teens who try it becoming daily users.
The health unit is urging parents to talk to their kids early and often, and a new 12-minute video called Hey Parents, Let’s Talk About Vaping is now available to help guide those conversations.
