The Royal Canadian Legion is marking its 100th anniversary today with celebrations taking place across the country.
A commemorative ceremony is being held at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, while Canada Post is unveiling a special anniversary stamp.
Founded in 1926 to support veterans returning from the First World War, the Legion now has about 300,000 members and more than 1,350 branches nationwide. The organization says membership is on the rise, with 100,000 new members -including 122 in joining this year in Huntsville alone - through its free membership initiative.
