Parry Sound–Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison says the Prime Minister’s move is reckless, rewards conflict, and undermines Israel’s security
Parry Sound–Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison is criticizing Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it reckless and short-sighted.
Aitchison says the move rewards those fueling conflict, pointing to Hamas still holding hostages nearly two years after the October 7 attacks and the absence of real peace talks.
He argues recognition should only come from a negotiated settlement that ensures democracy, demilitarization, and freedom from terror.
Aitchison adds the decision sends the wrong message to Jewish Canadians at a time of rising anti-Semitism.
