More than 200 members of the business community are in opposition to the proposal
Opposition is growing to a possible municipal contractor licensing system in Muskoka Lakes.
Three local business groups — the Muskoka Lakes Chamber, the Muskoka Builders’ Association and the Our Muskoka Stakeholders Association — are urging council to reconsider directing staff to explore licensing options. More than 200 members of the business community have now endorsed a joint letter opposing the idea.
Council previously approved a resolution to study potential licensing models, but it still must ratify that direction before staff begin work.
The issue could be addressed at today’s council meeting.
