Another person was rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation
A structure fire in Lake of Bays has left one person dead and another in hospital after crews responded to a home on Spring Lake Road in Dwight Monday evening.
Fire officials say the call came in shortly before 8 p.m., with firefighters arriving minutes later to find heavy black smoke coming from the building.
About 20 firefighters from multiple stations were called in to assist with ventilation and overhaul operations as they worked to clear smoke and check for remaining hotspots.
One occupant was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, while another was found deceased inside the residence.
The Office of the Fire Marshal is now investigating the cause of the blaze.
