The driver had an open container of liquor in his truck
Huntsville OPP were busy last night. Around 11:45 p.m., while conducting a RIDE check on Centre Street, police pulled over a blue pickup truck. Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol and spotted an open container in the vehicle. The driver was given a roadside test, which they failed.
Police have charged a 36-year-old Huntsville man with impaired driving. The vehicle has been impounded for seven days, and their license has been suspended for 90 days. He is scheduled to appear in a Bracebridge court at a later date.
Police say there is no excuse for impaired driving and advise you to plan ahead and arrange for a designated driver, a taxi, or public transit if you're going to consume alcohol or drugs.
