The refusal was a result of resident's concerns for safety, and environmental concerns
The Township of Armour says public safety and environmental concerns remain at the heart of its refusal for a Battery Energy Storage System in Burk’s Falls.
Armour Township says that the proponent PowerBank, does not adequately address emergency response planning, firefighter training, or stormwater management. The Township has hired professional services to defend its decision.
PowerBank Corporation is now appealing to the Ontario Land Tribunal, arguing the project meets provincial planning policies and technical concerns can be resolved through the site plan process.
No hearing date has been set.
