The new 5 story complex would be located at the corner of Hanes Rd and Hwy 60
A new mixed-use development could soon reshape part of Huntsville.
Town council is reviewing a proposal for a five-storey building at 5 Hanes Road featuring ground-floor commercial space and 100 rental apartments above. The plan includes a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units, with 16 designated as affordable housing for at least seven years.
Developer Steve MacDonald says the goal is to provide homes for local workers struggling to find housing.
Council has directed staff to work with the applicant and return with a recommendation for approval.
