The Bay's Jeff Carter accepted the award on behalf of all the volunteers and staff at the station
Hunters Bay Radio was recognized on Sunday with a media award for its role in raising public awareness of the Huntsville Royal Canadian Legion and its members, including a recent feature celebrating a veteran with eight decades of service.
The station was honoured for its coverage that highlighted the Legion’s community contributions and raising awareness of the events happening at the legion.
Legion representatives and community members say the recognition reflects the importance of local media in keeping veterans’ stories in the public eye and connecting younger generations with the service and sacrifice behind them.
Hunters Bay Radio has long supported the Legion through its programming and community outreach, and over the years has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to the organization through fundraising partnerships and local initiatives.
Carter says the award underscores their ongoing commitment to community storytelling and supporting not-for-profit groups across Muskoka.
Hunters Bay Radio says it will continue highlighting local service groups and community milestones as part of its broader mandate as a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit broadcaster.
