Failing to stop could cost you $490 plus 6 demerit points
Huntsville OPP are reminding drivers to watch for school buses during School Bus Safety Week.
Drivers must stop at least 20 metres from a bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. On undivided roads, traffic in both directions must stop, unless there’s a physical median or barrier.
Failing to stop can mean a $490 fine and six demerit points. Novice drivers could also face a 30-day licence suspension.
OPP say following the rules helps protect children getting on and off school buses.
